The first day of the Selma Historic Pilgrimage at the Molette House greatly exceeded all our expectations!

There was a very large group at the house (probably between 150-200), everyone was so gracious, complimentary, and delightful to meet and spend time with.

We had a wonderful group of volunteers helping, led by Kent as the House Chairperson, Olivia doing flowers and tours, Peggy, Karen, Pokey, and Gladys hosting tours, and Norm and Diane handling parking and tickets.

We were amazed at the level of knowledge and interest in the house, as well as the number of folks working on renovations themselves, with whom we could share experiences and connections.

The house has never—to our knowledge—been so full of life, energy and interest. We were truly amazed and humbled.

Our amazement was increased by knowing that the weather was not ideal, the road to the house a long and confusing one, and Friday isn’t necessarily the best day to travel.

Nonetheless, we had folks traveling not only locally but several from Mobile and Birmingham, one couple from Mississippi that traveled three and a half hours just to see the house, and even some distant Molette relatives that flew down from Maryland!

Overall, it was an amazing coming out party for the 200-year-old lady, and we are truly grateful for everyone’s encouragement and support.

The second day of the Selma Historic Pilgrimage at the Molette House was amazing and even exceeded the first day!

There were even more visitors to the house (approximately 200-250), everyone was so gracious, complimentary, and delightful to meet and spend time with. So, for the two days we were blessed to have approximately 400 wonderful folks share our home for a while.

We had a wonderful group of volunteers helping, led by Kent as the House Chairperson, Olivia doing flowers and tours, Pud, Pokey, Pam, and Kelly hosting tours, and Larry and Juanita handling parking and tickets.

We were even more amazed at the level of knowledge and interest in the house, as well we heard several visitors giving explanations of the history, craftsmanship, and work done on different parts of the house to other visitors.

The house was a constant buzz of energy and enthusiasm all day. We were truly amazed and humbled!

We are happy to share just a sampling of photos of some of the visitors. There are so many to mention that we will let the pictures speak for themselves. 😊

Overall, the two day even was an incredible coming out party for the 200-year-old lady, and we are truly grateful for everyone’s encouragement and support on this amazing journey!
